3/1 Favourite wins at Thirsk Races...

12th July, 2025.

Dandy Style (pictured, Photo credit: Hannah Ali) ridden by jockey Paul Mulrennan built on his racecourse experience when galloping clear down the centre of the track to land the opener at Thirsk last Tuesday by three quarters of a length and justified a starting price of 3/1 favourite.

The odds-on favourite First Principle was unable to quicken in the closing stages of the Racing Tv Club Novice Stakes (Division I) and had to settle for the half-length runner-up position as Divine Knight ridden by Daniel Tudhope surged clear.

Newmarket challengers Wolfpack and Gentle Touch finished first and second respectively in Division II.

Two divisions of the Weatherbys ePassport were next up on the busy eight-race card. Local trainer Geoffrey Harker sent out the 17/2 chance Travis to win Division I by a head.

Further local success was the outcome in Division II for David and Nicola Barron as Mereside Madness, returned at 14/1 crossed the line one and a half lengths ahead of the field.
